First Meeting
Hi Everyone,FIRST MEETING:
The first meeting will be on Sunday August 7th. Please remember to think up an idea for a film if you don't already have one. My suggestion is to make it 10 minutes AT MOST if you're just starting out (5mins ideally). Think about how realistic the film will be to make. For example, if you've imagined a spactacular and epic crane shot, please remember that this is incredibly expensive.
If you're interested in screenings, please think up a few movies you'd like to see or some movies you'd recommend. If you're interested in workshops (screenings plus directed discussion), then think up a topic and pitch it.
Here are a few ideas for films if you're stuck:
1. A film about a situation- no dialogue, only body language and mise en scene.
2. A documentary on random acts of kindness in Toronto (or wherever you are)
3. A documentary on an artist/ friend
4. A mockumentary on a professional/ person you know
5. Short film animation (stop and go, 3d, 2d, stick figures—whatever)
6. Short film about sailing
7. Short film about a relationship
8. A film about perspective: the world is ending—four people’s perspectives
9. Mock travel video about your favourite city
10. Web video: choose your own adventure
11. Web video: murder mystery
12. Doing a scene from a film/ tv show you like—maybe your own version (eg. A scene from Memento, or the musical Buffy episode)
Remember, all you need is a camera and an idea.

Does anyone know a good sketching artist?
Is this for your animation idea? There are storyboard artists here where I work, so maybe if you send me a synopsis of the project, I can give it to them and see if they're interested.
